Description
The exquisite artistry of handmade woodcrafts, originates from the famous Natungram cluster in Bardhaman district, however our collection stretches right up to North Bengal. These self-taught artisans, known as Sutradhars have mastered this skill both for leisure as well as earning a livelihood. Legend says that woodcraft originated from stone carvings in West Bengal. When the stone trade declined, artisans turned to wood for their livelihood, carving wood to meet their everyday needs.
Actual colors may vary. We do our best to ensure that our photos are as true to color as possible. However, due to photographic lighting sources and the nature of the products (individually handcrafted), there may be a slight variance from the image that you see.
This figure depicts a tilted Owl beautifully carved out of a single piece of wood.
