Kalmilata Saree- কলমিলতা পাড়ের শাড়ি

গ্রামবাংলার উৎসবের ঐতিহ্য কোজাগরী লক্ষ্মীপুজো, পৌষপার্বন কিংবা চৈত্র সংক্রান্তিতে মা-বোনদের আঁকা আলপনা। এ শাড়ির দেহেও ঘরে নিকোনো দেওয়ালের রং, পাড়ে চালগুড়ি আলপনার চলা। পুকুর পাড় বা সবুজ ধানক্ষেতের আল বেয়ে যে কলমিলতা ধেয়ে যায়, শাড়ি জুড়ে তারই বাহার। সেই সঙ্গে রয়েছে কৃষিভিত্তিক বাংলার লোকজীবনের মাটির সোঁদা গন্ধ। ১০০ শতাংশ সুতির ও ৯২X৯২ কাউন্টের এই হ্যান্ডলুম টাঙ্গাইল শাড়ির নকশাকার শ্যাম বিশ্বাস।

During the heritage festivals of rural Bengal, such as Kojagari Lakshmi Puja, Paushparbon, or Chaitra Sankranti, Bengali women traditionally adorned their homes with hand-painted Alpana. This saree captures the essence of mud huts, with borders reminiscent of the white hues of 'chaal guri' (rice dust) Alpana. It showcases motifs of 'kalmilata,' a reclining creeper commonly found near pond banks or in the paddy fields of rural Bengal, evoking the earthy essence of agrarian life. Designed by Shyam Biswas, this handloom Tangail saree is made of pure cotton (100%) with a 92x92 count, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal.
