Mourning

Sculptor- Alakananda Sengupta

Cradling a newborn, the veiled figure in Mourning embodies a profound stillness, where grief finds expression in the quiet tension of her lips and the gentle curve of her posture. The absence of eyes lends the face an unsettling poignancy, leaving its sorrow both deeply personal and universal. Set against the backdrop of human suffering during Palestile protests, the terracotta sculpture holds space for loss, vulnerability and the enduring tenderness of a mother's embrace.
