  চিত্রকলা

 প্রতিভাকে দেশ, কালের গণ্ডির মধ্যে আটকে রাখা যায় না। তবু যদি ভারতীয় চিত্রকলার ইতিহাসের কথা বলতেই হয়, সেখানে বাংলা ও বাঙালির অবদান অখণ্ডনীয়। এক কথায়, বাংলা হলো শিল্প ও শিল্পীর আকর। বাংলার চিত্রকলায় যেমন পাশ্চাত্য শিল্পরীতির প্রভাব এসেছে, তেমনই তৈরি হয়েছে বেঙ্গল স্কুল ঘরানার মতো স্বতন্ত্র পরিচয়। বাঙালি শিল্পী ছাড়াও এমন অনেক অবাঙালি শিল্পী ছিলেন বা আছেন, যাঁরা বাংলায় থেকে শিল্পচর্চা করেছেন এবং এখনও করে চলেছেন। যাঁদের মননে ও কাজে ধরা আছে বাংলার সামাজিক-সাংস্কৃতিক আবহ। একজন শিল্পীর প্রতিটি ছবির মধ্যে যে ভাবনা ধরা থাকে, তা মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়া এবং বাংলার শিল্পচর্চাকে আরও বিস্তৃত পরিসরে তুলে ধরার জন্য দ্য বেঙ্গল স্টোর-এর চিত্রকলা সম্ভারে রয়েছে সমসাময়িক চিত্রশিল্পীদের এমনই সব কীর্তি।

 Paintings

 Talent cannot be confined by the boundaries of place or time. Yet, when we speak of the history of Indian art, the contribution of Bengal and its artists remains undeniable. In many ways, Bengal has been a rich source of art and artists. While Western art traditions have influenced the region’s artistic landscape, Bengal has also developed distinctive identities of its own, such as the Bengal School of Art.

 Alongside Bengali artists, many artists from outside Bengal have also lived and practised their art here, drawing inspiration from its social and cultural landscape. Every artwork carries the artist’s own ideas and perspective.
