Velvet border saree/ভেলভেট পাড়ের শাড়ি (Bimala-Ghore Baire)

সত্যজিৎ রায়ের ‘ঘরে বাইরে’ ছবির নায়িকা বিমলার পরনে দেখা গিয়েছিল ঠিক এমনই এক শাড়ি। যার পাড় গাঢ় লাল, নিচে সাদা রেখা আর শরীর জুড়ে ঢেলে দেওয়া কালো রং। জীবন থেকে আরেক জীবনের যে সীমারেখা, তা-ই যেন শিল্পী শ্যাম বিশ্বাসের পুননির্মাণে ফুটে উঠেছে। ১০০ শতাংশ সুতির ও ৯২X৯২ কাউন্টের এই শাড়িটি হাতে বুনেছেন বাংলার তাঁতিরা।

Satyajit Ray's 'Ghare Baire' heroine Bimala was seen wearing a similar saree, the border of which is dark red, with a white line separating it from the black body. Artist Shyam Biswas deftly illustrates the thin line between one life and another in this recreation. This 100% cotton, 92x92-count saree is hand-woven by the Bengal weavers.
